Alterlocks Academy is a structured education dedicated to synthetic dreadlocks techniques and professional braiding development.

The focus is on real production methods, not fragmented tutorials or casual content. The education program is based on practical experience since 2007 and organized into a complete learning system.

This education is for those who want to improve technical skills, understand full workflows, and develop high-quality results in their work.
ONLINE COURSES
All nine of my courses, including different techniques, have already been translated into English and more than 30 other languages

The defining feature of these dreads is a pronounced “bubble” texture – alternating tight sections and expanded segments along the length

The texture can range from highly defined to very subtle: from uniform, evenly spaced “bubbles” to a more organic, irregular pattern

At the same time, the final texture is fully controlled by the maker

The defining feature: no crochet work involved

This technique was developed specifically for those who don’t like or don’t know how to use a crochet hook

Dreads can have a wide range of texture variations

The structure is created by wrapping the dreads with thread or a strand of kanekalon

Different texture patterns can be achieved through various wrapping techniques

The defining feature: no backcombing stage.
These dreads turn out both thin and voluminous thanks to the texture, and are highly elastic.

This technique was developed specifically for those who don’t like or don’t know how to backcomb synthetic hair.

You only need to section the material into thin strands and, skipping the backcombing stage, crochet the dread using a specific technique. After that, apply heat processing and the dread is ready.

The defining feature: an unusual wavy pattern for dreads.

The texture can range from large waves to fine ripples, sometimes visually resembling three-strand braids.
The wave size is fully controlled by the dreadmaker.

This technique is fairly challenging for beginners, so it’s best to learn it after mastering classic textured dreads.

The defining feature: a “bubble” texture with increased volume and reduced weight.

Developed specifically for clients with sensitive scalps.
Dolly dreads are made without backcombing, which gives them exceptional softness.

They don’t feel prickly and don’t cause scalp irritation, even for highly sensitive clients.

A Dolly Dreads set has more volume than a regular dread set, while being lighter (standard set of 50 DE dreads in the Dolly technique weighs approx.250 gr)

The defining feature: curls with a Dolly-style base.

The base texture of the curls features soft, delicate “bubble” segments.

The course is built on the Dolly Dreads technique, adapted for high-temperature curls.

Enhanced root volume combined with a very soft, gentle base that does not irritate the scalp.

Core production stages: kanekalon curling and braiding.

The defining feature: two-strand braids that look like four-strand braids or dreads with an unusual texture.

The X technique involves no backcombing and no crochet work, resulting in maximum softness and volume.

The name “X” comes from the fact that at first glance, people can’t tell what the technique is or how the braids are made.

Additionally, the kanekalon strands are braided in an X-shaped pattern.

Core production stages: blending curls with kanekalon, curling, and braiding.

The defining feature: curls with an X-style base.
The root area of the curls has a unique, textured pattern.

The course is built on the X Braids technique, adapted for high-temperature curls.

Enhanced root volume with a very soft, gentle base that does not irritate the scalp.

more details
The defining feature: straight dreads resembling natural hair dreads.

The dread structure can range from perfectly smooth and even to lightly textured with stray hairs.
They can be dense or airy.
All these parameters are determined by the maker.

A full set of 50 DE dreads, 50–70 cm long, weighs approx. 300-500gr (the final weight depends on length, quantity, material, and whether loose ends such as curls or thermal fiber are added)
